Planned Parenthood Action Fund Endorses Independent Seth Bodnar for Senate

Leading National Reproductive Rights Group Endorses Independent Seth Bodnar Over Democrat Alani Bankhead as Momentum Shifts in Montana’s Senate Race

MISSOULA, MT — Planned Parenthood Action Fund today announced it is endorsing Independent U.S. Senate candidate Seth Bodnar, citing his support of reproductive freedom and his commitment to keeping the government out of Montanans' private health care decisions. The endorsement comes on the heels of news that Bodnar is gaining momentum in the race, while his Republican and Democratic opponents are losing ground. 

“Montana voters across the political spectrum overwhelmingly chose to protect reproductive freedom in their own constitution. We know Seth Bodnar will meet this moment with the same clarity and represent the will of Montanans in the U.S. Senate,” said Alexis McGill Johnson, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “Seth understands that everyone should be able to get the reproductive healthcare they need, when they need it. “The government has no place in a Montanan's doctor's office, whether that government sits in Helena or Washington, D.C.,” said Bodnar. “Montanans already settled this at the ballot box, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents voted to protect it in our own constitution. A woman's decisions about her own body belong to her, and to no one else. That's exactly the kind of decision I'll always answer to Montanans on, not a party. I’m thrilled to earn the endorsement of Planned Parenthood Action Fund in this race.”

As Montana's Independent Voice in the U.S. Senate, Bodnar will support codifying Roe v. Wade into federal law, defending the right Montanans wrote into their own constitution through CI-128, protecting access to contraception and IVF, and keeping the government out of every Montanan's private health care decisions.

Seth Bodnar is a Green Beret, business leader, and former president of the University of Montana running for the U.S. Senate to be an independent voice for Montana. Seth is guided by a lifelong commitment to duty, honor, and country. He graduated first in his class at West Point and served multiple overseas deployments, leading soldiers in the 101st Airborne Division and the 1st Special Forces Group, and serving as a special advisor to the commanding general in Iraq. After his military service and a successful career in business, Seth spent the last eight years leading the University of Montana. Under his leadership, the university achieved record high graduation rates, doubled research funding, launched the largest infrastructure renewal in campus history, restored financial stability, and was named the #1 military-friendly university in the country. Raised by two public school teachers, he believes leadership is about service, not party loyalty. Seth and his wife, a fifth-generation Montanan, are raising their three children in Montana.
