Montana Public Radio, Q&A: Seth Bodnar, independent U.S. Senate candidate

Missoula, MT— Independent candidate for U.S. Senate Seth Bodnar today announced that county officials across Montana have accepted more than 20,000 signatures of the nearly 30,000 collected by the Bodnar campaign and submitted them to the Montana Secretary of State’s office. In order for Bodnar to be officially qualified for the November General Election ballot, the Secretary of State must now validate more than the required 13,237 signatures. County officials are expected to continue to accept and submit additional signatures in the coming days.

“Today, the Montana Secretary of State’s office is processing the signatures of more than 20,000 Montanans who want everyone in our state to have the opportunity to vote for an Independent voice in the U.S. Senate. This is democracy in action,” said Bodnar. “But while tens of thousands of Montanans declare their Independence from Washington’s broken political system, DC insiders have installed a handpicked puppet on the ballot who will put Washington over Montana every time. I’m running because Montanans deserve an Independent leader who will put country over Party and who will always put Montana First.”

The campaign’s volunteer-driven effort collected signatures in 52 of Montana's 56 counties, demonstrating broad support for adding Bodnar to the general election ballot. The signature haul also builds on the campaign's already dominant fundraising position. In the most recent pre-primary FEC filings, Bodnar outraised all opponents, reporting $754,000 raised since the end of March and a total of $2.1 million in contributions.
