10 Questions Kurt Alme Has Spent Months Dodging
After spending months skipping forums forcing the cancellation of the MTFP/Nonstop Local debate, Alme finally faces Montana voters on Sunday. Here’s what they deserve to hear him answer:
MISSOULA, MT — On Sunday, at the Montana Broadcasters Association debate, Kurt Alme will share a stage with his opponents for the first time. Ahead of the debate, the Bodnar campaign is releasing 10 questions Alme has spent this campaign avoiding.
Why did you drop out of the MTFP/Nonstop Local Debate, and will you commit to any more debates across the state so voters can hear directly from you?
You engineered a rigged primary, have never run for office before, and are unknown to Montana voters. Still, you skipped forum after forum, and a statewide debate was cancelled because you wouldn’t show up. If you’re this dismissive of Montana voters, why should anyone believe you’ll answer to them in Washington?
You said Congress “can’t vote to limit the use of force” in the Gulf, while promising you’d never support “another forever war.” Do you believe Congress has any constitutional role at all in the use of military force in Iran?
Eighteen American service members have been killed in a war Congress never authorized, diesel prices in Montana are above $6, and when asked whether it should end, you said only that it’s important to “continue to support our president.” Specifically name the circumstances under which you would vote to end the war in Iran.
Your office let a man who admitted to sexually abusing a six-year-old child walk away with less than a year behind bars, and without ever registering as a sex offender. What is your explanation for that?
Why did your office decline to prosecute up to 79 percent of the sexual abuse cases assigned to it?
You called Medicaid a “permanent handout,” even though it is how tens of thousands of Montanans get their health care and it is a lifeline for rural hospitals. Do you support Medicaid expansion?
Why, when you worked in the governor’s office, did you lobby against three bills to lower the cost of insulin, and let a company who sold fake cancer drugs off the hook with a slap on the wrist?
Yes or no, has the debt grown by $3.6 trillion since January 2025, passing $40 trillion? Is the Party that controlled all three branches of government during that time responsible?
Montana ranchers are watching foreign beef flood our markets while cattle herds sit at a 75-year low. You’ve said nothing. Do you support the Administration’s decision to flood the market with 660 million pounds of foreign beef?
“Party bosses can hand Kurt Alme a nomination, but they can’t answer Montanans’ questions for him. On Sunday, Montanans will hear what Alme sounds like without a script,” said Bodnar campaign spokesperson Kelly Webster.
