Seth Bodnar Statement on the 25th Anniversary of the September 11 Terrorist Attacks

MISSOULA, MT — Former Green Beret and Independent candidate for U.S. Senate Seth Bodnar today released a statement marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks:

“Twenty-five years ago this morning, nearly 3,000 people went to work, boarded a plane, or answered a call for help and never came home. I graduated from West Point just months earlier and had just completed the US Army Ranger School, and I immediately knew the oath I had taken and the training I received would take on new meaning.

“Today I'm thinking of the families who lost loved ones that morning and in the days and weeks that followed, the responders still sick from their work at Ground Zero, the servicemembers who never made it home, and the Americans in uniform who are in harm's way around the world right now. In the days after the attacks, we looked out for our neighbors and saw each other first as Americans, and as Montanans gather at memorials across our state today, may we find our way back to that.

“Chelsea and I are holding everyone impacted by that day in our hearts, and we will never forget.”

Seth Bodnar is a Green Beret, business leader, and former president of the University of Montana running for the U.S. Senate to be an independent voice for Montana. Seth is guided by a lifelong commitment to duty, honor, and country. He graduated first in his class at West Point and served multiple overseas deployments, leading soldiers in the 101st Airborne Division and the 1st Special Forces Group, and serving as a special advisor to the commanding general in Iraq. After his military service and a successful career in business, Seth spent the last eight years leading the University of Montana. Under his leadership, the university achieved record high graduation rates, doubled research funding, launched the largest infrastructure renewal in campus history, restored financial stability, and was named the #1 military-friendly university in the country. Raised by two public school teachers, he believes leadership is about service, not party loyalty. Seth and his wife, a fifth-generation Montanan, are raising their three children in Montana.
