Make the Montana Way of Life a Reality Again
If you're willing to show up and put in a hard day's work, you should be able to put a roof over your head, provide for your family, and retire with dignity. For too many working families in our state, the Montana Way of Life is slipping out of reach. Not because Montanans have stopped working hard, but because Washington has stopped working for them.
Housing & Affordability
The average age of a first-time home buyer has jumped from 31 to 38…An entire decade stolen from Montana families trying to build a life here. We must reverse that trend. By cutting the red tape that drives up construction costs, creating tax incentives for workforce housing, pushing back on Wall Street funds buying up single-family homes, and lowering childcare costs for working families, we can open the door once again.
Health Care
When you get sick, you should be able to get good care without driving two hours. You should make health decisions in private with your doctor and your family. And when your doctor prescribes something, your insurance should cover it. Rural hospitals from the Hi-Line to the Bitterroot are the lifelines of Montana communities, and they deserve a Senator who will protect them.
Farmers, Ranchers, & Small Business
Montana's farmers and ranchers feed the world, and Washington should have their back. We need commonsense trade policy that protects critical industries and opens key markets, not a chaotic, ever-changing tariff policy that drives up costs, crushes export markets, and creates instability for our producers and small businesses. Meanwhile, meatpacking consolidation has squeezed family ranchers, and the repeal of Country of Origin Labeling left Montana beef at a market disadvantage. Our young people shouldn't have to leave Montana just to find work, and we need a Senator who will support our local industries and job creation.
Education & Workforce
I don't care whether you're a millionaire or earn minimum wage: in Montana, you should be able to send your kid to a world-class school with excellent, well-paid teachers who can afford to live here. Every Montana student should have a pathway to a good-paying job without having to leave the state to find one.
Social Security & Medicare
Montana seniors worked their whole lives and paid into these programs. Social Security and Medicare are not entitlements — they are earned promises. I will not support cuts to these benefits, full stop. And with commonsense reforms that ask high earners to contribute their fair share, we can strengthen these programs for future generations, too.
Veterans & Military Families
As an Army veteran and former Green Beret, this is very personal. Montana has one of the highest per capita veteran populations in the nation. These men and women gave everything — and they deserve a Senator who will fight relentlessly to make sure the VA works, benefits are accessible, and no veteran has to battle bureaucracy to get the care they earned.
Fiscal Responsibility — Our Obligation to the Next Generation
The national debt is a moral failure. It’s a massive bill we are passing to Montana's children and grandchildren. Politicians have spent decades making promises they couldn't pay for while using the debt ceiling as a political weapon. An independent Senator can say what neither party will: we can protect Social Security and Medicare, invest in Montana's future, and still put ourselves on a sustainable fiscal path. But it requires honesty and political courage — which is precisely what current politicians are refusing to provide.
